Full Week Ahead!

Welcome back! ...Again!

We hope you had a great Carnival Break!

The week before the break students were actively discussing the concept of money and trade and its origins. We would like to reinforce the invitation to parents that work in banking, investment or any other economic related business to come to school and share your expertise with the students. It would certainly be a meaningful experience for them to listen and learn from you.

Also, please remember to save and send to school any box or package of products used at home for us to reuse in class activities! Thank you!

Friday was a half day and students could try a small carnival parade in school before going on their break. They had lots of fun!

Have a great week!

Welcome Back!

Dear parents,

Welcome back to school! We hope you had a great time over the holidays!

We would specially like to welcome new students to our school!

WELCOME TO ST. FRANCIS COLLEGE!

It's the beginning of the second term in school and students are already working at full speed.  We started the new Unit of Inquiry with the central idea "Economic activities affect the way we live" and students could share their previous knowledge on money and currency as they talked about their holidays.

Throughout this Unit we will need as many reusable materials as possible to organise a small market in class so we would like to ask you to please save some boxes and packages of different products used at home to send to school.

Also, if there is anyone that works in the banking/investment area and is willing to talk to the students, we would appreciate if you could share your professional knowledge and experience. Please just let us know through your child's diary and we will get in contact to talk about it and set a date and time for your visit.

We barely started and there is a holiday coming up already! It's Carnaval next week so there will be no school for students! This Friday 5th February is a half day that means students leave at 12:00 with no lunch and they are back to school on Monday 15th February.

Have a great week and enjoy the Carnival Break!

Last Week!

Dear parents,

This is the last week of school this term! It is a short week full of fun and exciting activities!
Students will have the opportunity to read to other year groups, watch a movie, take part in a treasure hunt and watch the Pantomime, a play done by teachers to entertain and wish every student a wonderful holiday season.

This week and over the holidays, student will not take their level books home. However, they are encouraged to take part in the school reading challenge. They can use their Raz-kids account to read and record their reading. Before going on holiday, Raz-kids login/password information will be attached to everyone's diary.

They will also have access to the MyiMaths website through their usual user name and password.

Wednesday is the last day of the term for students. It is a full day, including the ECA lessons.

Enjoy your holidays with your children and see you back next term!

St. Francis Bazaar!

Dear Parents,
Last week we had our parent-teacher meetings. Thank you all for being there on time to see the teachers and help us keep the schedule with all the meetings. If time was not enough and you would like to discuss your child's report further, please contact your child's class teacher via the diary.
Saturday was our St. Francis Bazaar! It was a great time for all parents and children to spend some time together and have some fun. There were different stalls set up around the school. Some delicious ones like creating a cup cake design or making your own marshmallow stick and some more on the creative side where you could just relax and colour in your favourite Christmas image or share your idea of what to do if you could spend Christmas eve with Santa.
By the way, Santa was there! Children could talk to him and let him know about their wishes and dreams.
Children also performed in a music presentation playing the recorder and some also singing in the choir. We hope you enjoyed!
PYP 5 stall was a big hit at the beginning, selling pasta ornament, sock puppets and candles, but it was a bit slower towards the end of the event. However, we could still raise some money and add to the overall amount of the school. The money will go towards paying for the gift and hygiene kit delivery parties and instruments for Choroblue, an organization that creates opportunities for children to learn to play an instrument. Thank you very much for all of you that could help in any way and also for being there with your child to spend some quality time together with the school community. It was a great event!

Have a great week!
