Special Events!

Dear parents,

Last week we had some special guests in Jd. Europa Campus! Some parents offered to come to school and share their professional experience and knowledge with the students! Pictures at the end of this post.

Thank you very much!

There is still time for other parents to come! Just write a note in your child's diary and we will contact you to schedule a day and time.

PYP 5's also presented internal Music Assemblies last week! Check out some pictures and videos HERE!

Have a great week!

Book Week!

Dear parents,

It's Book Week! This year the theme is POETRY.

There will be many activities focused on reading and poetry throughout the whole week!

There will be also many whole school activities and events such as Book Stall, Poetry Tree, Poem in your Pocket, Door Decoration, Buddy Reading, Book Swap (children can bring books from home to swap for other ones), Talk to the Author and many more!
A book author will visit us this Friday. The library will be selling her book throughout the week and children can bring them on Friday for an autograph!

Parents can also come and read to the students! The class representatives will be in contact with class teachers to set up times for parents that are interested in sharing some reading.

Inside the Classrooms!

Dear Parents,

There are lots of things happening inside PYP 5 classrooms.

There is a lot of group work happening in class where children practise their social skills while learning and consolidating understanding of concepts. There are also individual challenges involving money and multiplication. Students are encouraged to participate in group discussions and reflections to summarize learning and they are also experiencing what is being discussed in class through role play and games.

It's been a fun ride so far!

Have a great week!

Full Week Ahead!

Welcome back! ...Again!

We hope you had a great Carnival Break!

The week before the break students were actively discussing the concept of money and trade and its origins. We would like to reinforce the invitation to parents that work in banking, investment or any other economic related business to come to school and share your expertise with the students. It would certainly be a meaningful experience for them to listen and learn from you.

Also, please remember to save and send to school any box or package of products used at home for us to reuse in class activities! Thank you!

Friday was a half day and students could try a small carnival parade in school before going on their break. They had lots of fun!

Have a great week!

Welcome Back!

Dear parents,

Welcome back to school! We hope you had a great time over the holidays!

We would specially like to welcome new students to our school!

WELCOME TO ST. FRANCIS COLLEGE!

It's the beginning of the second term in school and students are already working at full speed.  We started the new Unit of Inquiry with the central idea "Economic activities affect the way we live" and students could share their previous knowledge on money and currency as they talked about their holidays.

Throughout this Unit we will need as many reusable materials as possible to organise a small market in class so we would like to ask you to please save some boxes and packages of different products used at home to send to school.

Also, if there is anyone that works in the banking/investment area and is willing to talk to the students, we would appreciate if you could share your professional knowledge and experience. Please just let us know through your child's diary and we will get in contact to talk about it and set a date and time for your visit.

We barely started and there is a holiday coming up already! It's Carnaval next week so there will be no school for students! This Friday 5th February is a half day that means students leave at 12:00 with no lunch and they are back to school on Monday 15th February.

Have a great week and enjoy the Carnival Break!
