Dear PYP 5 Parents,
We would like to send out a big welcome back to everyone! We are very happy to see all of you and looking forward to a great year! A big special welcome to the new students in PYP 5! We would like introduce this blog as a communication tool between our classrooms and your homes. As always, the diaries will still be going home so please continue checking your messages there.
Our PYP 5 learning community has already been immersed into an array of topics within the transdisciplinary theme: Sharing the Planet. Over the first four weeks of school, our students explored key aspects of our planet through the central idea of "How access to equal opportunities depends on human choices." From the central idea, we think deeper about how the accessibility to these opportunities has a connection to human and children's rights, children's lives around the world, and equal opportunities. We also begin the unit with place value, comparing numbers up to 1,000, mental maths exercises, and plenty of analysis with bar graphs. We have come up with our essential agreements of how to interact together as a group. Overall, we are already starting to realise that with the skills we build now, we will be great thinkers in the future! For further information, please visit our Curriculum Overview PYP 5 Unit 1.
We are already off to a great start and looking forward to a successful academic year! Please check the blog every week for up to date information.
